Context
The Emily Stowe Shelter for Women was an organization in Scarborough that provided housing, support, counselling, and skills training for women and their children at risk of gender-based violence in Toronto. In the 80s and 90s annual benefit concerts featuring local musicians and bands were held in Toronto to raise money for the shelter.
