<p>The lawsuit was filed by Daishowa, a multinational pulp and paper company, against the Friends of the Lubicon. The Friends of the Lubicon had launched a boycott of the company in order to pressure them to stop clear-cutting on the unceded lands of the Lubicon Cree.</p>
