Context
The proposal was inspired by conflict that arose within the International Women's Day organizing committee over the question of pornography. IWD organizers saw pornography as violence against women and were confronted by sex workers who argued that this stance was exclusionary.
Conference was about feminism and sex workers and included speakers from the sex worker community as well as academics and representatives from feminist organizations.
